These baked pears with honey and pecans are easy to make and packed with flavor! Toasted pecans, warm spices, and a drizzle of honey bring a touch of sweetness, while maple cardamom whipped cream adds an extra layer of creaminess and indulgence.
Cut the pears in half and use a melon baller or a small spoon to scoop the core out. Place halved pears in a baking dish or baking sheet.
In a small bowl, combine maple syrup, cinnamon, and ginger. Stir well. Brush the cut side of each pear with the maple syrup mixture using a silicone brush.
Add the pecans to the remaining maple syrup mixture and stir to combine. Scoop the pecan mixture into the cavities of each pear half.
Bake the pears for 15-25 minutes, until soft and slightly caramelized. Remove from the oven and drizzle with honey.
Next, make the whipped cream. Add whipping cream, maple syrup, cardamom, and cinnamon to a chilled mixing bowl.
Whip the cream with a stand mixer or hand mixer until stiff peaks form. Add a dollop to each baked pear right before serving.
Notes
You want to use pears that are ripe but still pretty firm. Overripe pears will turn to mush in the oven.
The riper your pears are, the faster they will soften in the oven. If you are using pears that are on the softer side, start checking their doneness earlier. Underripe pears may take longer.
Baked pears don’t save well, so I recommend making just enough to eat that day. If you do need to save some, keep them in an airtight container in the fridge.
Baked pears are delicious with vanilla ice cream! Feel free to skip the whipped cream and enjoy them with a scoop of ice cream instead.
If you want your pears to stand up straight without rocking, slice a small piece off of the bottom of the pear to give it a flat surface to sit on.
.For an easy breakfast, serve baked pears with a scoop of greek yogurt!
